Nevins' commitment is shown in dedication to waste reduction, recycling efforts and the use of eco-friendly materials.

Crucial to our environmental policy is our firm dedication to conservation. Nevins employs a Just-In-Time manufacturing philosophy, which eliminates waste caused by overproduction. In addition to reductions in inventory waste, this process allows us to only purchase raw materials as needed, thereby reducing our consumption.

When performing White Glove delivery service, our installers cut down on waste by using sturdy shipping blankets instead of disposable cardboard boxes. These heavy-duty shipping blankets offer the same protection to furniture in transit as cardboard boxes. While cardboard boxes are routinely discarded after delivery, shipping blankets can be used for many installations over many years.

Nevins’ long-term recycling policy is clear: we pledge to give back more than we take. We know we must do our part by recycling our waste and scrap materials and by using recycled products in our everyday operations. This is why over 85 percent of our waste stream is either recycled or reused. Also, our cardboard packaging materials are made up of 80 percent recycled materials.

In addition to reusing cardboard packaging boxes and printing literature on recycled paper, Nevins is selective about choosing environmentally conscious material suppliers. We purchase our materials from companies with progressive environmental policies, including waste reduction, reforestation, recycling, forest and animal protection, and human safety.

Along with waste reduction and recycling efforts, we believe that the utilization of environmentally-friendly materials is also important. All of our paints and finishes are non-toxic and are composed of zero to low Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC). We believe that we are doing our part in promoting a more environmentally conscious industry by eliminating these VOCs and other materials containing hazardous chemical byproducts.
